Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony - Santa Parade
 Location: Historic Downtown Mount Airy - Plaza next to Town Hall
 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
 The streets will be closed from 4 - 8PM. Beginning at 5PM, the Town Christmas Tree lighting ceremony will be held, located in the plaza next to Town Hall. The tree is lighted by the Mayor and a child selected by the PTA from a local school. Following the tree lighting, a band concert will be held, featuring the combined bands from Mount Airy Middle and South Carroll High School. The South Carroll High School Chorus will also perform.

At 6:30PM, the Giant Twinkling Santa Parade will kick off from the Mount Airy Elementary School parking lot. The Grand Marshal will be the principal from Parr’s Ridge Elementary School, and the Junior Grand Marshal will be a child selected by the PTA. The parade usually contains 18 – 20 units, including bands, dance and gymnastics groups, the library staff, local businesses, 4H clubs, girl and boy scouts, etc. The requirement is that something in or on the unit has to twinkle.

The final unit of the parade is ever fire truck in Mt. Airy will be processing down Main Street. A special visitor will accompany the Mayor & Councilman during this firetruck procession.

 Shop, Sip, & Stroll Main Street
 Location: Historic Downtown Mount Airy
 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
 All participating shops will open from 5 - 8 PM, serving refreshments, with strolling musicians and other attractions around the downtown area. A SEARCH is held, with customers obtaining a Search Card from a business to find what is being served (food or drink). Put the card in a drawing to win a Giant Gift Basket with a value of over $250.
