Police Department
The Town of Mount Airy has five Maryland State Police Resident Troopers. Resident Troopers perform the same duties a local police force would perform. The Police Office is located at 2 Park Avenue. For emergency assistance call 911. The non-emergency phone number is (301) 829-0218. If a Trooper is not in the office, your call is automatically forwarded to the Maryland State Police.
Fire Department
Mount Airy is protected by a fully-equipped Volunteer Fire Department that provides both fire fighting and ambulance services. The fire hall is located at 702 North Main Street. They also have Carnival Grounds, banquet facilities and ball fields located on the corner of Maryland Route 27 and Twin Arch Road. The Fire Department is dependent on donations from citizens and local governments as well as fund-raising activities for its entire budget.
Taxes
Local taxes are used to provide and maintain city streets, street lighting, police protection, garbage collection, snow removal, parks and recreation, and general administration.

The Mount Airy Branch of the Carroll County Public Library is located at 705 Ridge Avenue, Mount Airy, MD 21771. The Head Librarian is Patty Sundberg.

Parks & Recreation
The Town maintains recreational areas which allow fishing, hiking, tennis, ball, street hockey, skate boarding, picnicking or just to appreciate the beauty of Mount Airy. With acres of varying natural surroundings, the Mount Airy parks have been carefully planned and developed for your outdoor pleasures. Parks are open from dawn to dusk. Picnic pavilions can be reserved by calling the Mount Airy Town Hall at (301) 829-1424; reservations should be made early in the year.
