Mayor’s Welcome
Mayor’s Welcome
Welcome to Mt. Airy! We hope you will enjoy our small town and the friendly atmosphere our community offers. We pride ourselves on Mt. Airy’s small-town charm, first-rate businesses, family-friendly neighborhoods with excellent sports and other activities, stable government, and friendly citizens.
Please explore this website and its many links to learn just how good life is in Mount Airy.
Whether you are a visitor or have lived here for some years, there’s always more to learn about Mt. Airy. Consider dining in one of our many excellent restaurants – from Mexican to Sushi. Shop for everything from fresh fruit and vegetables in our Farmer’s Market, straight from the farm and open during the spring and summer, as well as the many other businesses that line our town.
We have it all – from teen clothes, to antiques to hunting/sportsman and team sport supplies in one of our small, quaint downtown stores, to many other Mt. Airy businesses including grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, pharmacies and for a small town, everything that you need. Also stop by our historic sites, such as the Pine Grove Chapel on Main Street where railroad and Civil War History were created.
If you are planning on joining us, contact one of our many realty firms. They can tell you about our first-rate school system.
We are centrally located, just north of Washington, D.C., west of Baltimore, south of Gettysburg, and east of Frederick. Interstate 70 borders our town and provides easy access to the neighboring larger cities and major employment centers in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
To continually improve our Town and environment, we need citizen participation. Please join me in creating an even better Mt. Airy by volunteering on one of our many citizen-run advisory committees. Giving back to our community provides a sense of purpose that is unmatched and leads to a greater level of happiness in all aspects of life.
Thanks again for visiting, and feel free to contact me with any questions or thoughts. Please drop by Town Hall and speak to one of our staff about the great life we enjoy in Mount Airy. I can be contacted via email at: prockinberg@gmail.com, and our Town Hall staff is at 301-829-1424.
Thank you for your time and again, welcome to Mt. Airy!
