Mount Airy Commissions
Beautification Commission
The Beautification Commission meets monthly at 7:30 pm on the 4th Tuesday at the Town Hall.
The Commission develops and executes landscaping and enhancement plans for both Town property and parks. It currently has a full roster, but visitors and other volunteers are needed to help maintain the Town Parks gardens.
The Beautification Commission is comprised of seven members, five of which are town residents, who serve a 3 year term. Current members are listed below.

Board of Appeals
The Board of Appeals consists of five members and one alternate, who must be town residents and serve a three year term. Current members are listed below.

Board of Supervisors of Elections
The Board of Supervisors of Elections consists of three members and one alternate, who must be town residents and serve a two year term. Current members are listed below.

Economic Development Commission
The Economic Development Commission (EDC) of Mount Airy meets the 4th Wednesday of each month. Our starting time is 7:00 pm. The EDC was established in 2003 under Ordinance No. 2003-9. The EDC's main objective, as stated in this document, is to " assist the elected Town leadership in adopting policies to ensure responsible economic growth within the Town."
All residents are encouraged to submit any suggestions or concerns to the EDC via paper or electronic mail to the Town Hall, or in person at any regular EDC meeting.

Ethics Commission
The Ethics Commission is charged with the following duties:
- To prepare, receive and maintain all forms required by Section 13 of the Mount Airy Code including the annual Financial Disclosure Statement.
- To provide written advisory opinions as requested by covered individuals as defined by the Code.
- To process and make determinations as to complaints filed by any person alleging violations of the ethics section of the Code.
- To conduct public information programs regarding the purpose and application of the ethics section of the Code.
The Ethics Commission meets on an ‘as required’ basis. A press release is issued whenever the Commission schedules a meeting. The Ethics Commission consists of three members and two alternates, who must be town residents and serve a four year term. Current members are listed below.

Parks and Recreation
The Board of Parks and Recreation schedules the use of athletic facilities and plans the development and construction of new facilities, including a proposed community center. Several ball fields and soccer fields are currently being completed, and several are underway to keep up with Town growth. Approximately a half dozen athletic facilities have been added in the past five years. The Board also supervises the development and construction of playgrounds. The most recent additions have been at Summit Ridge and the Fields of Nottingham.
The Board of Parks and Recreation consists of a minimum of five members but not more than nine members; all must be town residents. three members and one alternate, who must be town residents and serve a two year term. Current members are listed below.

Planning and Zoning
The Planning and Zoning Commission is a seven member board responsible for land use and development regulations, enforcement of zoning, sign, and subdivision ordinances. Meetings are usually the last Monday of every month starting at 7:30 pm at Town Hall. Occasionally separate workshops are scheduled during the month as well. Current members are listed below.

Sanitation and Recycling
The Sanitation and Recycling team is made up of nine members including one council member who serve for three years. The commission meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm in Town Hall. Everyone is encouraged to attend. Current members are listed below.

Streets and Roads
The Streets and Roads Commission is charged with the following duties:
- Investigate and make recommendations concerning traffic control and traffic calming measures.
- Review and provide advice on street, road, sidewalk and gutter maintenance.
- Undertake such other studies, programs and recommendations as may be appropriate or requested from time to time by the Town Council. Recommendations are taken to the Town Council for approval as appropriate.
The Streets and Roads Commission consists of up to seven members including a liaison. The Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm at the Mount Airy Town Hall. Current members are listed below.

Water and Sewer
The Town of Mount Airy routinely monitors for contaminants in your drinking water. We vigilantly safeguard our water supplies and once again we are proud to report that our system has never violated a maximum contaminant level or any other water quality standard. The Commission meets on the first Wednesday of every month at the Mount Airy Town Hall. Current members are listed below.
