The Town of Mount Airy works with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Northern Region for Carroll County and Western Region for Frederick County. It is strongly advised to make an appointment with either Darren or Brandon prior to applying for any incentive programs.

Neighborhood BusinessWorks Loan Program - Provides flexible gap financing to small businesses located in or expanding in locally designated neighborhood revitalization areas throughout the State. Must be located in Sustainable Community Designated Area. View Mount Airy's Sustainable Area Map.

Frederick County (only available to Frederick side of Mount Airy)

PR Frederick - Offers existing businesses free marketing and a boost in search engine optimization (SEO). 

Small Business Loan Guarantee - Provides a source of financing for existing and aspiring small businesses. 

Carroll County (only available to Carroll side of Mount Airy)

Small Business Revolving Loan Fund - For businesses with 25 employees or less who were not qualified to acquire conventional commercial financing, a loan amount of up to $25,000. 

Economic Development Infrastructure & Investment Fund - Grants or low-interest loans for a variety of needs.

Industrial Revenue Bonds - Eligible projects typically begin at one million dollars. Funds can be used for land, machinery and building construction/renovation. 

Job Creation Tax Credit Program - Allows for tax credit incentive against County property tax imposed on real property owned by business entity. A business must construct or expand by 5,000 square feet and employ 25 new persons in new full-time positions within the first 24 months, paying at least 125% of the Average Weekly Wage per worker.
